Father Christmas working!

Three mornings on duty. Roughly 200 Children, a present for each one, which is the loveliest experience for any overweight man. Unfortunately a present in return caused man-flu before Christmas, and a cough to match. Thank heavens for Benelyn!

About douglasosborn

He was a Councillor for 18 representing Weoley Ward, including the western side of Bournville Village Trust, on Birmingham City Council. He has worked for, and overseen through planning, the improvements to Weoley Castle Square, and Northfield Town Regeneration. He worked in Sparkbrook as a Youth Leader for 5 years and lectured the City Careers service on the employment of disabled people. He originally trained as a Mining Engineer qualifying in 1970, specialising in Explosives and Mine Lighting. He was a member of the Institute of Minerals, Mining, and Metallurgy, and the Institution of Lighting Engineers, now Professionals for 20 years. He played Rugby for Kings Norton RFC for 5 years, sometimes in the 1st. XV. He was a member of the West Midlands Police Authority (1976-1980) and a member of the board of Birmingham Airport (1976-1981). He took a B.Th. degree at Oxford University, and gained a Master of Arts degree in Urban Design from Birmingham City University. This enabled him to be the Chairman of Birmingham Conservation Trust where he was able to help with the famous "Back to Backs" project, and conduct the negotiations for purchasing the "Coffin Works" with Advantage West Midlands. Therefore he was then chosen to be Chairman of Birmingham City Planning Committee from 2008 to 2012, until the change in administration, but remained a member of the committee until this year. He served on the Police and Crime Commissioner Panel, and was a West Midlands Regional Ambulance Service Shadow board member. He was a Governor of Bournville College for 15 years, and is still one for the Victoria Federation. He served on the West Midland Combined Authority Mayoral scrutiny panel. He was Birmingham's 'Heritage Champion', and is a trustee of Moseley Art School, and Chairman of Shencare Community Transport, which is located in Bournville Ward. He has never claimed any expenses in the 18 years he served on the City Council - perhaps because the forms are too complicated.
